Vote with your dollars

One question we’ve been getting a lot lately is “where can we find good companies across industries to support, that are fair to their employees, promote BIPOC and other minorities, and care about the environment for starters?”

Being a consumer is a big responsibility in today’s society. Where you spend and invest your money is a powerful way of voting each day to support your local communities, fair wages, a healthy planet, and other issues you care about. As Green America put it so eloquently,

  • Every time you buy organic, you tell the world you want more farmers to grow healthy, safe food.

  • Every time you buy certified fair trade, you fight poverty.

  • Every time you buy from a business owned by women or people of color, you help build an inclusive economy.

  • Every time you don’t buy something, you tell the world you don’t need more stuff to have a good life.

To answer the question of where can we find good companies to support, here are some resources we have found to be helpful. While no company is perfect and often we only know as much about an individual company as they’re willing to share, we hope this is a good jumping off point. Let’s make sure our money is going towards companies that align with our values. Go forth and vote with your dollars!
